At this year's doctoral seminar on arbitration and alternative dispute resolution at Bucerius Law School, 15 doctoral students gathered at the invitation of the Centre for International Dispute Resolution. Under the direction of Professor Stefan Kr\u00f6ll and in cooperation with the German Institution of Arbitration, nine participants from Germany, Austria and Switzerland had the opportunity to present their dissertation topics and discuss them with the other participants over two days. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to a presentation on mediation and one on sports arbitration, the presentations covered the entire spectrum of commercial arbitration: from the conclusion of the arbitration agreement and the influence of technical aids in arbitration proceedings to numerous issues regarding the recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards under the New York Convention. Lively and valuable discussions, in which Professor Karsten Thorn, Co-Director of CIDR, and lawyer Ulrike Gantenberg, member of the board of trustees of the KHB Foundation, among others, participated with helpful comments and remarks, provided the speakers with new inspiration for their work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The seminar also provided an opportunity to make new contacts and network. During lunch and the evening reception in the courtyard of the Law School, participants were able to exchange ideas and continue their discussions in a relaxed atmosphere. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
