On July 21 and 22, 2023, the Doctoral Seminar on Arbitration, sponsored by the Karl-Heinz B\u00f6ckstiegel Foundation \/ DIS, took place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the academic direction of Prof. Kr\u00f6ll, the Center for International Dispute Resolution invited doctoral students from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. 25 participants came to Bucerius Law School to exchange ideas on topics of arbitration. 11 doctoral students presented part of their doctoral projects, which were then discussed with the group, Prof. Kr\u00f6ll and other guests. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The aim of the seminar was to create an opportunity to further develop the individual works in discourse. Many ended their presentation with a question that was particularly relevant to them in the context of their research, in order to discuss it with others. Even though all topics dealt with arbitration law, there was a great deal of variety: from security for legal costs, data protection, consent and mass proceedings to highly topical issues such as section 1032 (2) ZPO, AI as arbitrators and climate protection in arbitration. The combination of presentation and discussion offered everyone the opportunity to delve deeply into the respective topics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition to the scientific exchange, it was particularly nice to see some familiar faces again. Many already knew each other from last year or had met at the Moot Court in Vienna or at a DIS40 event. In addition to input on their own doctoral theses, on arbitration law or on scientific work, new and old contacts were able to continue the discussions of the previous day in the evening at a barbecue on the campus of Bucerius Law School. <\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
