Doctoral seminar at Bucerius Law School 2024

At this year's doctoral seminar at Bucerius Law School, the Center for International Dispute Resolution, in cooperation with the DIS, welcomed 17 doctoral students specializing in alternative dispute resolution under the direction of Professor Stefan Kröll. The participants came from universities all over Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Over two days, 11 speakers presented their research projects, which led to lively and stimulating discussions among the participants.

The seminar covered a wide range of topics, including the admissibility of state-ordered arbitration tribunals, the case law of the ECJ on the International Skating Union, EU economic sanctions, the liability of litigation funders, and interim relief. This enabled participants to share their research with an expert audience and to receive new impetus for their work through comments, tips and feedback.

In addition to the formal lectures, participants were able to network and exchange ideas. This year's doctoral seminar thus once again helped to educate the next generation of scholars and practitioners in the field of arbitration and international dispute resolution. There was also a great deal of interest among all participants in attending the doctoral seminar again next year.

The event took place in cooperation with the German Institution of Arbitration (DIS). We would like to express our sincere thanks to the Karl-Heinz Böckstiegel Foundation for their generous support.
